College testing is an important element of the college application process. It is one of the major factors that colleges use to see how much you know and helps them predict how successful you will be on their campus. Understanding the mystery of which tests you must take and the deadlines vary from college to college.
This New York Times article has a good guideline to decide if you want to take the SAT or ACT, while community colleges offer placement tests which place you into the correct level of class, not to approve or deny admission to students. The majority of California Community Colleges use the Accuplacer test for placement.
