SHOW ME THE MONEY! Accessing the Financial Means to Achieve Your Dreams.

Have you completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?

You should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible beginning January 1st of each year. Click here to apply

By completing the FAFSA you are applying for Federal and State Grants, Federal Student Loans and Federal Work Study.  The Board Of Governor's Waiver (BOGW/Fee Waiver) is also included in this application but for California Community Colleges only.

Here's a neat cheat sheet for completing your FAFSA.

Do you know if you qualify for financial aid? If not, click here.

Upon completion of your FAFSA you will be given an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. This index number is used to calculate your eligibility for financial aid. Typically, the lower the EFC the more financial aid you may qualify for.

CAL Grant

In order to qualify for the Cal Grant you will need to complete your 2012-2012 FAFSA and have your GPA verified by the institution which you attend by March 2, 2012 for most colleges. California Community Colleges do have an additional deadline of September 2, 2012 to complete your 2012-2013 FAFSA and have your GPA verified by the institution which you attend.

Are you a foster youth?

If you are or were in foster care and have not yet reached your 22nd birthday you may be eligible to receive the California Chafee Grant for Foster Youth. You will need to complete the FAFSA and the California Chafee Grant application. You can access the California Chafee Grant application by clicking here.

Maximize your free money by applying for scholarships. Below are some links that are great resources for searching for scholarships. In addition to these websites you will also want to check with the college you plan to attend for available scholarships. Beware of scholarship scams!! You should never pay money to apply for FREE money!!

Need Assistance?

Get free help completing the FAFSA by either attending a FAFSA on the Web workshop at your local community college or calling 1-800-433-3243 (English or Spanish) and speaking with a live FAFSA representative.
